We have implemented software to run the visual part of the simulator in 3D headsets. It works very well. Almost like being on board a boat at sea. Look around by turning your head. Get the feel of the distance to land or other boats. The voyage becomes significantly more realistic than by looking at the computer screen - in fact quite fascinating.
We use XBOX controller as control console. With it you can steer the boat (start, stop course, speed), and switch between day, night and fog.
With the controller you can operate Radar and Map in the same way as with the mouse on the PC screen.
